  • The gallery mainly collects and researches on China’s modern arts works. The main building of the gallery is loft-style with the roof made of yellow glazed tiles which shows a strong national architectural feature. And it takes up an area of 18000 square meters and owns 17 showrooms from the first floor to the fifth all together.   • Founded in 1956, the new Shanghai Art Gallery is at NO.325, the west of Nanjing Road with an area of 18000 square meters. The main architecture, with the height of 21 meters, has 4 floors on the ground and one floor underground. The building was in a British style of 1930s and was a race-course of Shanghai in the past. The old architecture may bring you back to the old Shanghai although the gallery has installed advanced central air conditioning system, safety and fire-control system and automatic management system.
  • It’s one of the symbol architectures of Zhejiang Province. The gallery integrates the modern design, flexibility and humility together which can give you an illusion of fairy land. The total area of the gallery is 23800 square meters. And all its architectures are less than 9-meter high. In addition, the “four-season” bridge that shows the beauty of the West Lake attracts many attention of the public.
  • It’s a local historic art museum of China and was designed by famous architectural designer I.M. Pei from the mansion ruins of LI Xiucheng who was Zhongwang of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. It occupies a place of 8000 square meters. Stereo architectures are in royal palace styles with the color painting and wistaria planted by Wen Zhengming at the side door of entrance. There is a classic stage of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom in the east of the museum, too.
  • With combination of traditional architectural style and modern decorative arts, the museum has a rich national flavor as if a budding flower. It consists of showroom and Schatzkammers. There are delicate Jade, ivory carvings, wood and stone carving, ceramics, lacquer ware, embroidery, drawn work, cloisonné, gold and silver ornaments, filigree inlay, tin, and copper plaques in the showrooms. Most of them are the works from the old generation such as art masters, professors, and experts or the works that awarded in national or international competitions.
