Beijing Normal University is colloqiually known as Beishida, is a public research university located in Beijing with strong emphasis on basic disciplines of humanities and sciences. It is one of the oldest universities in China. A normal school referred to an institution that aimed to train school teachers in early twentieth century, and this terminology is preserved in the official names of such institutions in China. The university was chosen as a Project 211 institution in 1996. In 2002 it signed an agreement with Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal Government, and became the 10th university on the list of Project 985 to get special support from the Chinese Government, aiming to be a world prestigious university.

East China Normal University commonly referred to as ECNU, is a public research university located in Shanghai, China. Established in 1951, it is the first national normal university of People’s Republic of China. Originally founded to train school teachers, the university is now an institution training researchers, professors, high-level civil servants, as well as business and political leaders. Sponsored by the national program “Project 211” and “Project 985”, it is a staunch force in the nation’s research in the humanities, social sciences and technology innovation.

Capital Normal University is a university in Beijing, China. It is covered by Project 211, a policy to renew and modernize educational facilities in the People’s Republic of China. Capital Normal University was founded in 1954. Previously called Beijing Teacher’s College, it was renamed Capital Normal University in 1993. The University has more than 25,000 students, including 9,522 undergraduates, 1,315 graduate students, 14,000 adult students, and 376 foreign students. Undergraduates can choose from 41 different majors.

Shandong Normal University is a university located in Jinan City, Shandong Province, China. It is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning established in Shandong Province since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Predecessor schools of teachers education in Shandong date back to 1902. The university itself was established in 1950 and was known as Shandong Normal College until 1981. The university moved to its current campus in Changqing District in 2003.

Sichuan Normal University is the oldest normal university (teacher's college) located in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. It is the largest provincial key university with the most complete courses offered among the provincial universities and colleges in Sichuan province. It has about 35,000 students with 32,000 full-time undergraduates and 3,000 graduate students. There are about 3,000 faculty and staff, of whom 770 are professors and associate professors, and 150 have Doctorates. 17 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering have accepted SNU positions as chief, part-time or emeritus professors.

Northeast Normal University (NENU) is an institution of higher learning under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education, being selected as one of the universities given priority in construction in the “211 Project”. The university, located in Changchun city, Jilin province, occupies an area of 1,500,000 square meters, including 800,000 square meters of the main campus and 700,000 square meters of the new campus. NENU's predecessor is Northeast University, the first comprehensive university founded by the Communist Party in Northeast China in Benxi, Liaoning province, in February 1946. In 1949, the school was moved to Changchun City and renamed Northeast Normal University in 1950.

Nanjing Normal University was originally the Sanjiang Normal Institute, which was established in 1902 by Zhang Zhidong, the Governor-General of Jiangsu and Jiangxi. After that, it was renamed Liangjiang Excellent Normal Institute in 1905, National Nanjing Higher Normal School in 1914, various other names, before being named National Central University and then Nanjing University, and in 1952 Nanjing University Normal College became Nanjing Normal College and then renamed Nanjing Normal University in 1984. Nanjing Normal University became a comprehensive university well known for the educational and scientific research. It was included in the 211 Project.

Hebei Normal University is a university in Hebei, China under the provincial government. Hebei Normal University is a provincial key university with a hundred-year history. The university originated from Shuntian School established in Beijing in 1902 and Beiyang Women Normal School established in Tianjin in 1906.Approved by Hebei provincial government, the former Hebei Teachers University, Hebei Teachers College, Hebei Education Institute established in 1952 and Hebei Vocational and Technological College merged into one in June 1996 and was named Hebei Normal University. Hebei Normal University is an early-established large-scale university in China. The names of many great revolutionary pioneers such as Deng Yingchao, Liu Qingyang, Guo Longzhen, Yang Xiufeng and Kang Shien are on the list of graduates. A group of famous scholars like Liang Suming, Zhang Shenfu and Tang Yongtong and others are on the list, too. Among the graduates are some academicians such as Yan Luguang and Hao Bolin and famous coaches and athletes who won championship in international games such as Xu Shaofa and Cai Zhenhua.
